Blu the Baqi is an author, advocate and spoken word artist who hails from the barbecue pits of Kansas City, MO. Inspired by poets such as Nas and Nikki Giovanni, Blu began writing poetry at the age of 9. She credits the Hip Hop culture for her signature 'rhythm and blu' style - on and off the page. She hopes her voice will encourage others to share their stories and to use writing as a form of healing.

Blu has been the featured artist for Spare Change, Fight Back!, Kitchen Sessions, Mom-O-Logues, Women on the Brink, Seattle Spit, S.P.E.A.K and Folklife Festival. She is the 2017 Queer Resurgence Poetry Slam Champion. She is a part of the Ringside Revolutionary Poets and performs every month with the collective. Her debut poetry anthology "How to Write a Fire" is available on Amazon. She currently resides in Seattle, WA.
